In celebrating the 105th Anniversary of Nanjing University, NUAABA (Nanjing University Alumni Association in the Bay Area) successfully organized a picnic party on May 12, 2007. This is the 2nd picnic party organized by the newly re-formed NUAABA, the organization aims at enhancing the friendship and communications of our Nanjing University alumni in the Bay Area.

More than 60 alumni and their family members (including 6 guests from DongNan University, our neighbor in Nanjing) attended this event held at the beautiful Foothill Park in Palo Alto, CA. (see photos) The board members and volunteers of NUAABA provided food and drinks, including Nanjing style salt ducks, a rare delicacy prepared by Frank Yu (the newly appointed NUAABA board member), and plenty of Korean style barbeque beef spare ribs, salad, hotdogs and hamburgers etc. prepared and cooked by our members and alumni friends. The organizer also ordered fried noodles and rice from a very nice restaurant. During the event, our alumni greeted each other, enjoyed the food, and talked with old and new friends. In his brief public speech, the NUAABA President Xu Shaojie introduced the alumni association to our alumni friends, some of whom was attending the activities held by NUAABA for the first time, talked about the new website and this year's coming agenda, including participation of the NCCAF sports event and the camping plan, and openly called for participation and suggestions of our alumni activities. Board member Zhou Jianping also talked to the whole audience about his recent trip to Nanjing University and the nice impressions and messages he received while visiting there. After the lunch picnic hours, our alumni took a short hike along the natural trails in the Foothill Park, guided by our NUAABA board members.

The whole event is enjoyable and relaxing. Compared to the last year's picnic party, the food quality has greatly improved and the Park environment is much nicer. Like last time, our friends at the picnic party were very eager to talk to each other and share many good memories of Nanjing University and the life and work experiences in the US. The NUAABA members sincerely want to provide more assistance to our friends in the Bay Area, by inviting more participation and suggestions from our alumni.
